NTA has announced date for UGC NET June 2020.
University Grant Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted twice a year, in June and December, by National Testing Agency for determining the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian Universities and colleges. NTA has announced date for June 2020 examination.
Date of examination - 24.09.2020 onwards
University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.
The candidates who qualify for the award of JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. JRF qualified candidates will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to their finding placement in universities/IITs/Institutions. The validity period of the offer will be three years from the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. However, for those candidates who have already joined M. Phil. / Ph.D., the date of commencement of Fellowship shall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining, whichever is later.
UGC NET is conducted twice a year: in June and December. Its a 3 hrs duration Computer Based Test. The Test will consist of two papers: Paper - I and Paper – II having objective type multiple choice questions. The award of JRF and or Eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and paper-II. In June 2020, the examination is scheduled between 15 June and 20 June 2020.
Eligibility
Qualifying Examinations: Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. Minimum percentage requirement is 55% for UR/UR-EWS candidates and 50% for OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender category candidates. Candidates pursuing Master’s Degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply, subject to completing the degree with minimum within two years of NET result.
Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of NET subjects, may appear in a related subject.
Age Limit: For JRF age limit is 30 years maximum as on 01.06.2020. A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender categories and to women applicants. For Assistant Professor, there is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.
Exam Pattern and Duration
UGC NET is a 3 hrs duration Computer Based Test. The Test will consist of two papers: Paper - I and Paper - II. Both the papers will have objective type multiple choice questions. There will be no break between papers.
The award of JRF and or Eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and paper-II.
Exam Duration – 3 hrs (without any break between Paper-1 and Paper-2).
Mode of Examination – Computer Based Test (CBT)
Pattern of Questions – The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions of 2 marks each. There will be no break between papers.
Fee Details
General/Unreserved - Rs.1000/-; Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL - Rs.500/-;
SC/ST/PwD/ Transgender - Rs.250/-
Processing charges & Goods and Services Tax (GST) are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable
How to Apply
Log on to NTA website and click on 'Fill Application Form UGC-NET JUNE 2020'.
When logging in for the first time candidate has to go for 'New Registration'. After successful registration, candidates may 'Sign In' with Application Number and Password.
For registration 'tick' the check box after reading all the instructions carefully and 'proceed'.
Enter Details and click 'Submit'.
Review page will open, re-check all the details, tick the boxes and click 'Final Submit'.
After final submission, registration is complete and Application Number is generated.
Go to 'Complete Application Form', fill all the details and submit.
Image Upload: Scanned copy of photograph and signature to be uploaded. Images shall be in JPG format only. Photograph size between 10KB to 200 KB and signature size between 4KB to 30 KB.
Payment of Examination Fee: Payment of fees will be done Online through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/Paytm.
After successful payment of fees, a confirmation page will be generated. Candidates should keep the confirmation page and proof of fee paid for future reference.
